چکیده مقاله:

This paper aims to debate the concepts of foreign language learning such as English and its effects on individuals’ identity. It intends to examine how individuals point of view about their native language, culture, believes and attitude changes. To confirm this some articles are studied. How learning a foreign language affects their lives and also what are its positive and negative effects. Utilizing research evidence from various articles proves that language; identity and culture are interrelated. Therefore language acts as a culture representative. Language is considered as one of the most effective ways of determining person’s identity and cultural background [1]. It means that there is an inseparable connection between language and culture. Globalization of English makes communication easier around the world and by which people can convey information, travel, read articles and seize new job opportunities. To acknowledge this, foreign language acquisition may lead to change in individuals mind. This change may be positive or negative. In this paper changes in foreign language learners’ attitude toward their native language and culture which direct to identity changes are examined.
