چکیده مقاله:

Background: Nowadays, a broad spectrum of biosynthetic drugs and natural products has been applied for medical use worldwide. Nevertheless, it appears mandatory thatdemonstrates the scientific proofs for find their side effects in remedy aims. Objectives: The current investigation was designed to assess the toxicity of biogenicSelenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) on hematological and some serum biochemical parameters and also its histopathological effects in liver tissue in mice.Materials and Methods: Totally 48 male BALB/c mice were applied to assess the effects of SeNPs at the doses of 2.5-30 mg/kg on hematological and some serum biochemicalparameters and also its histopathological effects in liver tissue in mice. Results: The obtained findings in microscopic test exhibited that in of tissue sections ofliver mice treated with the Se NPs 2.5-20 mg/kg no significant pathological change was observed. But, after treatment with dose 30 mg/kg occasional focal mononuclearlymphocytic cellular infiltration around the portal and hepatocellular degeneration was observed. The results also showed that after treatment with Se NPs at the doses of 2.5, 5,10, 20, and 30 mg/kg for 14 days, no remarkable effects on biochemical parameters was observed. Conclusion: according to the obtained findings, SeNPs at the tested doses had noconsiderable effects on the liver and kidney organs as well as on hematological parameters in mice. Nevertheless more studies are needed to assess other toxicity aspects includinggenotoxicity, chronic toxicity.
