چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Antibiotic resistant among bacteria is a global threat to public health. Over the past decades, the incidence rate of multi drug resistant bacteria has been dramatically increasing worldwide. The aim of this study was to determine of antibiotic resistance profile of Gram-negative/positive bacteria isolated from surgery ward of Afzalipour hospital, Kerman, Iran, 2017.Material and Methods: During one year, 418 clinical isolates of Gram-negative bacteria and 93 clinical isolates of Gram-positive were collected from different clinical samples from surgery ward of Afzalipour hospital, Kerman, Iran. Antibiotic susceptibility profile of bacteria was determined by disk diffusion method. Results: E. coli and Staphylococcus spp., were the common Gram-negative/positive bacteria that isolated from patients in surgery ward. Gentamicin was the most effective antibiotic against Gram-negative bacterium and the highest rate of resistance were observed to cefixime in E. coli isolates. Vancomycin was the most effective against Gram-positive bacteria and more than 50% of Staphylococcus spp., isolates were methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus spp., (MRS).Conclusion: Surveillance on the antibiotic resistance profile of bacteria is very important for infection control and treatment of infections.
