چکیده مقاله:

Background: Early evidence suggests that meta-cognitive strategies have a positive effect on the rehabilitation of executive dysfunction related to age, stroke or TBI. Before undertaking a more significant trial, we conducted this case study in order to evaluate the feasibility of the study processes and determine the effectiveness of occupation-based strategy training, especially Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance approach (CO-OP) to produce changes on trained real-world behaviors in older adults. Materials & Methods: A case study approach was used to document how two older adults engaged in 10 weekly sessions of CO-OP addressing client-chosen motor-based occupational performance goals and the outcomes of this intervention. Results: Pre- and post-intervention assessment using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure indicated that both participants were able to engage in CO-OP intervention to successfully improve their occupational performance. Conclusion: Further research into the application of CO-OP with older adults is warranted based on preliminary positive findings regarding the efficacy of this intervention to address motor-based performance difficulties in two older adults.
