چکیده مقاله:
One of the most important changes in aging is bone density decrease and osteoporosis. Falling and fracture as a consequence are the sixth cause of death in people over 65 years of age. According to the latest global statistics, the greatest fracture of the falling occurs in the elderly in hip and spine. According to a study conducted in Iran in 2010 on fractures due to falling in elderly women in one year, 5000 cases of hip, 200 cases of wrist and 500 cases of vertebral fractures were reported, and the rest were a combination of these fractures. This study introduces fracture orthoses in the elderly, and provide evidence of the prescribing and using orthoses. Aging leads to a change in the alignment of the natural postural, and increased natural curvature of the thoracic spine on the sagittal plane. An excessive increase in this curvature or hyperkyphosis in the elderly increases the risk of increased fracture of the vertebrae. The most important goal in the osteoporosis orthoses of the spine is prevention of vertebral compression fracture and subsequent reduction of acute and chronic pain, improve function and psychological aspects. The most common orthoses in the elderly spine, PTS, Jewett, spinomed, osteomed brace and rock suck brace are referred to the structure, goals and benefits, and the latest available evidence. Considering the prevalence of hip fractures caused by falling in the elderly, hip orthoses, including the hip abduction brace and prophylactic or preventive orthoses, their structure and benefits should be considered
