Background and Objective: Screening play an important role in reduction of mortality and morbidity breast cancer as one of the most common cancer in women worldwide. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the theory-based educational interventions on screening of breast cancer. Using Meta-analysis. Search Method : with different search strategies, we searched Electronic databases include PubMed, Sciencedirect, Web of Science and Scopus, without time limit From January 12 to March 11, 2017. Keywords included Breast neoplasms, Screening, Women, and Health Education. First screening was conducted based on title and abstract and full text and then, the studies was screened based on our study criteria of selection. The relevant and eligible studies critically were appraised by Delphi checklist. Meta-analysis of eligible studies was conducted with random-effect approach. Findings: 27 out of 8620 initial studies (with sample size 10681 in the intervention group and 8854 in the control group) were included into final analysis. Result of meta-analysis showed that probability of screening behavior in interventional group is 1.4 times of that in control group. Moreover, sub-group analysis by type of screening behavior indicate that probability of conducting breast self-examination and of conducting mammography in interventional group are 1.9 and 1.4 times of that in control group. Conclusion: The health education program has an important impact on breast cancer screening behaviors especially breast self-examination. Therefore, given the positive effect educational screening programs in women it is recommended that this programs be continuously pursued with long -term follow up.
