Herpes Zoster and Post-Herpetic Neuralgia

Post-herpetic neuralgia is described as sharp, burning, aching, or shooting pain present in the dermatome that corresponds with the earlier rash.Antiepileptic drugs and TCAs are the first choice. When conservative treatment fails in providing satisfactory relief of PHN ,Interventional treatments may be considered that includ: epidural injections,sympathetic block and spinal cord stimulation.
