چکیده مقاله:
Before every procedure, it is necessary to obtain informed consent from the patient. While obtaining the informed consent, the purpose of the treatment, the expected outcome, the rate of success, risks of the treatment, complications, and other treatment modalities should all be considered. The patient should be informed about the purpose of the treatment in a manner they will be able to understand and know the expected outcome. The patient should be aware that there is no treatment with 100% success. The patient should be informed about the risks and complications , other reasonable alternative treatments and realistic information on the outcome of no treatment. The physician should not exaggerate the results of no treatment. The patient’s consent should be documented, including the information given to the patient, the questions the patient has asked, that the patient understood the procedure, and the risks and complications of the procedure. It is advisable that a member of the family or a caregiver should also sign the written consent.
