Intradiscal ozone injection

Disc herniation is the most common cause of spinal surgery, the management of low back pain should always start with a conservative methods and many pain physicians inject steroid, but this methods are limited success. Intradiscal ozone injection has been used as an alternative to steroid injections and surgical discectomy. Its mechanism of action on disc is mechanical (volume reduction by subtle dehydration of the nucleus pulposis) and anti inflammatory. But there are many controversies about effectiveness of Intradiscal ozone injection. Some articles aimed to determine the effect of intradiscal ozone injection on pain score and satisfaction of patients with low back pain (LBP) secondary to disc herniation in long and short term and the other one determined the best dose and volume of intradiscal injections of O₃-O₂ mixture.
