چکیده مقاله:

Background and purpose: Water quality assessment is essential to ensure viable safe use of the resources for drinking, agricultural, and industrial purposes. The purpose of this study was the assessment and analysis of Kuzaran villages in Kermanshah province water quality for drinking uses by water quality index(WQI) and investigate the water stability. Materials and Methods: In This cross-sectional study, 35samples were taken to evaluate the water quality characteristics during 12 months (2014–2015). the water stability was determined using Langelier saturation index (LSI), Ryznar Stability index (RSI), Puckorius scaling index (PSI), Larson-Skold index (LS), and Aggressiveness index (AI). Results: Physical and chemical analysis showed that the mean of pH, total dissolve solid, electrical conductivity, chloride concentration, sulfate, temperature, bicarbonate, total alkalinity, calcium hardness were 7.77, 1282.69 mg/L, 2004.2 mMoh/cm, 304.6mg/L, 381.13 mg/L, 22.18˚C, 300.42 mg/L, 295.47 mg/L as CaCO3, 369.20 mg/L as CaCO3, respectively. The results illustrated that the average values of LSI, RSI, PSI, LS, and AI was 0.5 (±0.34), 6.76 (±0.6), 6.50 (±0.99), 2.71 (±1.59), and 12.63 (±0.34), respectively. Moreover, according to LSI, RSI, PSI, LS, and AI, corrosion tendency in the water network was 7.5, 30, 80.72.5, and 97.5% respectively. The severity of corrosion in different regions of Kuzaran was displayed using Geographic Information System. The calculation of WQI for groundwater samples is shown that Among these, 25 % of the samples showed excellent water, 50 % of the samples fell under good water category and 25 % of the samples showed poor water category respectively. Conclusion: Water quality index (WQI) is an important parameter for identifying the water quality and its sustainability for drinking purposes. Corrosion and scaling tendency of water is an etiology of economic and health concerns in the water supply systems.
