A Survey of Procedures to Reduce Tariff Rate in Railway and its Competitiveness with Road Transportation Case study: Iran

Load transportation through railway is highly important considering the specific characteristics of railway. Also by considering the importance of pricing and costing as one of the critical measures of rail logistics, these costs are estimated considering the restrictions with which rail transportation network is encountered. This is because railway department can adopt appropriate strategies through accurate and actual estimation of costs. On the other hand, since road transportation is the only land competitor of rail transportation, we address this method of transportation as well as its advantages and disadvantages so that we may provide appropriate procedures to reduce tariff rate and its competitiveness with road transportation through examining both methods and comparing them in any respect especially costs and tariff rate.
