چکیده مقاله:

IntroductionAcne vulgaris is chronic inflammatory and debilitating dermatologic disease. Face is usually involved. Back and trunk are also involved but lesser. Acne vulgaris is cleaved to inflammatory (Papule، Pustule، cysts & Nodule) and non-inflammatory (Comedon) subtypes.Follicular ceratin secretion rising، additional sebum generation & Propionibacterium acne are main etiology of acne formation. Antibiotics are main conventional treatment of acne. Decreased level of efficacy، resistance & intolerance of patients to antibiotics are main problems in ordinary treatments of acne. Because of this، newer treatments are necessary. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the treatment of choice in this field.MethodsPatients that referred to our dermatology clinic in Sina university hospital are divided in two groups، A & B. A group were cases and B group were controls. Each group were 20 patients. IPL was prescribed for cases more over than conventional antibiotic therapy. Azithromycin 250 mg was selected antibiotic in this research. IPL treatment was done weekly for 5 weeks and patients were followed for 3 month. Inflammatory lesions count decreasing after this intervention doing، was remission scale. For lesions counting multiple photographs were taked. Lesions decreasing count up to 20% was mild remission، moderate was 20-59% lesions decreasing count partial complete was 60-70% and complete remission was over 80% decrease in the count of lesions.ResultsIn group A، moderate remission occurred in 4 patients، partial remission occurred in 9 patients and complete remission occurred in 7 patients. In group B، moderate remission occurred in 10 patients، partial remission occurred in 7 patients and complete remission occurred in 3 patients.According to Paired-t-test، Student s t-test and Chi-Square test remission difference was meaningful. ConclusionIPL with conventional antibiotics is more effective treatment in Acne Vulgaris vs antibiotics alone.
