A Guideline for Pediatric Hospital Users and Lighting communication

Hospital has significant place in each country, next to its medical services, its design and location quality of its spaces are important factors. Somehow all groups of people with different ages, genders and backgrounds use hospital. That is why beside treatments, the design and quality of physical spaces and elements of health centers are significant. Between types of hospitals, pediatric ones because of type of their users who are children, are very important. These spaces play vital role in kid’s physical and psychological conditions. This research is investigated lighting as one of the important factors in pediatric hospitals design through subject researching. Its relationship with interior spaces and impact on users and their practicality are represented. The lighting project of two pediatric hospitals as case studies are reviewed. Different type of solutions and layouts for each spaces of hospital listed as reception and waiting areas, toilets, circulation, corridors, care and bed areas, nurses’ workstation, dayroom, staff rooms and playing area in terms of lighting guideline are illustrated.
