چکیده مقاله:

Faba bean (Vicia faba) is one of the most important legume crops in the Middle East and North African countries. It s one of the most important sources of nitrogen in soil. The objective of this research was to estimate Vicia faba in response to increased concentration of zinc in nutrient media and showed that this plant have the potential phytoremediation ability of areas with zinc pollution. In our research on Faba bean plant, investigation in a hydroponic culture with different concentration of zinc (control, 100, 200, 300, 400, 600 and 800 µmol / L) showed that the tested species can be used as indicator plant, the plant showed stability against zinc toxicity, determined by their ability to germinate and grow as well as accumulate free proline 21 time more than control at 800 µmol ZnSO4 / L of media. Along with accumulation of zinc in plant leaves (up to 542.8 µg / g dry weight of plant tissue at 800 µmol ZnSO4 / L of media) these results suggests that Faba bean plant Vicia faba is a potential phytoremediation plant for moderately polluted areas with zinc.
