Review on types of oral and maxillofacial malignancies in Qazvin from

Object: Tumor is an abnormal tissue that its growth is faster than normal tissues.Malignant tumors are also called cancer.Oral cancers and also skin malignancies of face,head and neck are one of the common causes of mortality.Accurate knowledge of these malignant tumors is necessary for dentists in order to give accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of malignant tumors of head and neck in Qazvin,Iran. Method: This research is a cross-sectional retrospective study. Data was gathered from patients documents in cancer registry center in Qazvin ; Iran. Results: this study was done on 98 cases of head and neck malignancy,upon which squamous cell carcinoma was the most common malignancy(89.7%). The skin of face.neck and scalp was the most common site(74.6%) also these malignancies were more common in men (71.4%) than women (28.6%) with mean age of 67.4. Conclusion:This study revealed that squamous cell carcinoma was the most common type of malignancy and skin of face,neck and scalp was the most common site of it.the mean age of patients was 67.4 and was more common in men than women.
