Evaluation of Yes-associated protein 1 expression in lingual squamous cell carcinoma in relation with clinicopathologic parameters

Introduction: Hippo signaling pathway plays a role in regulating cell proliferation and size of Organs with an inhibitory regulator of one of its key mediator protein Yes-associated protein1 (YAP1).over expression of YAP1 As a transcription coactivator protein of genes involved in cell proliferation and growth, has been seen in numerous cancers.The aim of the present study was to investigate the incidence of YAP1 in squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue and its correlation with clinicopathologic parameters. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 87 paraffin blocks of the primary tongue SCC patient, after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study and diagnosis were collected from Archives of Pathology, Cancer Institute, and Imam Khomeini Hospital during 1388 to 1394. The expression of immunohistochemical marker, Yap1 and its relationship with clinicopathologic factors were examined by semi quantitative method. After recording, the data analyzed by statistical test.The data entered into the computer with SPSS 21 software and descriptive statistics were calculated. Finally, chi-square tests, t , ANOVA and Spearman correlation coefficients statistical analysis wasperformed. Results: YAP1 of markers compared to control samples were positive for high levels of positive (84%).YAP1 expression had significant inverse relationship with the degree of histological differentiation ( P<0.05 r = -0.322).The incidence of YAP1 with other variables such as age, sex,and metastasis was no significant difference.(P> 0.05) Conclusion: YAP is an important protein in malignant processes through influence on the directions and proteins involved in controlling the growth, proliferation and apoptosis regulates. However, the role of these markers in cancer is not yet clear escalation and aggression and Carcinogenesis And therefore further evaluation of the prognostic significance to the development of different types of cancer and its Treatment are necessary .
