چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and Objectives:Multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii is recognized to be among the most difficultantimicrobial-resistant gram negative bacilli to control and treat. This study was conducted todetermine the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns and prevalence of blaOXAtypecarbapenemase among isolated of Acinetobacter baumannii obtained from Iranian patients.Materials and Methods:The isolates were identified from patients hospitalized between July 2010 and June 2011 inthree hospitals in the Kermanshah region, Iran. All of the suspected colonies were assessedby using standard biochemical tests. Detection of the main groups of OXA carbapenemasegenes (blaOXA-23-like, blaOXA-24-like, blaOXA-51-like, blaOXA-58-like) were performedusing PCR and finally carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii were analysed byPFGE and Bionumerics software. Results:We collected 84 clinical isolates from the hospitalized patients. These isolates wereconfirmed as A. baumannii. All isolates were found to carry blaOXA-51-like .blaOXA-23-like and blaOXA-24-like was seen in 56 and 24 isolates respectively and blaOXA-58-likewas not detected in any of the isolates. Among 40 A. baumannii isolates that selected forPFGE analysis, we obtained 6 Pulsotypes (Including 4 common types and had 2 single types). Conclusion:A high prevalence of the some clones in different parts of the healthcare system showed thathospitalized patients should be highly careful to prevent the spread of these clones. Moreresearch and greater emphasis on the prevention of health care-associated transmission ofmultidrug-resistant Acinetobacter infection are essential.
