چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and objective:Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer of the women worldwide and the role ofhuman papilloma virus in the etiology has been full proved. This virus is transmitted sexuallyand multiple sexual partners, immune efficiency, contraceptive pills and smoking are otherpredisposing factors. The goal of this study is to determine the contamination rate of humanpapillomavirus types 16 and 18 in the cervical secretions by Real-Time PCRMaterials and Methods:160 samples of Pap smear were collected randomly among of patients referred to the differentlaboratory centers in the Rasht city in a year. After extracting DNA from all samples, presence of virus is determined by Real-Time Taqman PCR assay based on the E7 and E1genes.Results:Out of 160 samples of Pap smear, 17.5% were infected with the HPV 16 & 18.Rate of HPV18, HPV16 and co-infection 16 and 18 were 5%, 12.5% and 1.25% respectively. Conclusion: Determination of prevalence of high-risk HPV and use of sensitive molecularmethods for detection could be helpful for screening, management and vaccination planningagainst common HPV genotypes.
