RECYCLING / BITUMEN STABILISATION

Due largely to technological advances, the use of bitumen as a stabilising agent is becoming increasing popular, applied both in an emulsified form and in a foaming state. Treating a material with a cut-back bitumen is not a stabilisation process since the bitumen disperses in a manner similar to that in cold-mix asphalt. However, for environmental reasons, such treatment has been outlawed in most countries and is therefore not included.
