Lie algebra method for solving biological population model

In this paper, the Lie algebraic method is applied to solve biological population models described bytime-inhomogeneous birth-death processes. Notwithstanding no obvious symmetry, the solution is expressed bymatrix exponentials through suitably generated low-dimensional Lie algebras. This methodology may offer usefulinsights for other biological and ecological applications.
