The study of some influential factors on breast cancer in rural women screening

چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and objectives: Breast cancer is one of the most common leading causes of cancer death in women. Because relatively low ages (40-49 years) in our country, if it could be consider a serious health problem, it will be reduce mortality rates. One of the important roles of family medicine teams in women s health care could be early diagnosis of the disease as well as women s education in the context of breast self-examination (BSE) and refer them for screening.Method: This study was a cross-sectional, descriptive, population- based study that performed from July 2014 to December 2015. The samples consisted of all women referred to a health center. Data collected by a researcher-made form in accordance with the objectives of the study, included 16 questions regarding demographic variables and risk factors of breast cancer. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.Result: According to the results of 477 samples, the average age of 40.50 ± 11.84 years, 252 patients (52.9 %) or at least an elementary school education and 442 (92.9 %) were housewives. In terms of body mass index, they were overweight or obese 79.3 % (respectively 40.9 % overweight and 38.4 % obese). Also 45.5 % has a history of using hormone therapy, 52.8 % consume solid oil or combination of solid and liquid oil content, 33.3% did not have any training in this field and 32.9 % were without a previous examination.Discussion: This study showed, despite the threat of breast cancer, in particular due to low literacy levels, body mass status, the use of hydrogenated fats, insufficient information about the care and BSE, extensive training and diagnostic services are needed in screening programs. Therefore, early detection of cancer is associated with improved cancer prognosis, the task of the family s medical team as much as possible in the early stages of diagnosed cases of breast abnormalities and provides the basis for definitive diagnosis and treatment measures.
