Sexual violence and its effects on sexual function in women with breast cancer

Introduction: Sexual violence is a public health problem, including psychological harm, physical and sexual side is the wife; the other hand, sexual health and safe sex to experience pleasure section, without coercion and violence, which is the foundation of family with the increasing prevalence of violence . The prevalence of breast cancer is increasing in women. According to lack of concentrated study in this context, we aimed to evaluate sexual violence and its effects on sexual function in women with breast cancer.Methods: 298 women with breast cancer who were under treatment, were randomly selected in health centers of Urmia. The questionnaires including demographic information, sexual violence and sexual function was used for data collection. The chi-square tests, Mann-Whitney and independent t-test was used for data analysis. Results: The most common type seen violence including psychological violence, physical and sexual compulsion that forced male to female, female to male sexual assault were the most common types of sexual violence. Sexual function ranged from 2 to 36 times the average score was 24, the lowest average was a lack of sexual desire. A significant relationship was observed between violence and sexual function. (P <0/05) Conclusion: in present study, sexual violence and function were high and in women with breast cancer was statistically significant. The researchers advise to efforts for reduce sexual violence in order to achieve optimal sexual . Keywords: sexual violence, sexual partners, sexual function, breast cancer
