چکیده مقاله:

Introduction & aim: Breast cancer has been considered as one of the most common cancers in women.Therefore, success in educational, preventive and therapeutic programs has a great deal to do with the cooperation of patients, the women s community.Considering women s concerns and sensitivities to the gender of the examining and breast surgeon, this study evaluates the views of women in this regard.Methods:This study was performed by collecting information from a sample of 426 women who came to our clinic. The obtained data was analyzed with software SPSS and the results were considered significant with P level of <0.05.Results:The average age of the participants was 34 (20-70) and mode of their education was master degree (42.3%). For breast examination 1.4% preferred general physician, 19.7% midwife, 31% general surgeon and 47.9% gynecologist (p<0.05). For breast surgery, 47% had chosen female surgeons, 19% male surgeons and 32% was observed no difference between surgeon s genderswhich was not significant.There was no significant relationship between age, education and marital status of clients with examiner or surgeon gender.Conclusion:Women in this study are significantly willing to visit a female doctor for examination of their breastsbut for the surgery, the surgeon s gender did not matter.
