The effects of hydrocele on spermogram

Background: Hydrocele is very common in men and may affect their fertility. It is well known that pressure and warm temperature are main causes that hydrocele can adversely affect spermatogenesis .Methods: The spermogram of 62 patients with moderate to severe unilateral hydrocele (18-42years) was evaluated before hydrocelectomy from May 2015 to July 2017.Result: A number of 43 (69%) patients had some degrees of impaired spermogram (abnormal count n=21) abnormal motility n=33 and abnormal morphology n=18. Some patients had two or three abnormalities at the same time.Conclusion: We believe that hydrocele can adversely affect normal spermatogenesis .
