The Inferior Flattened Area (IFA) measurement Apple Regeneration Sign For staging Pllucide Marginal Degeneration (PMD)

Purpose: Classification for severity of KCN is well known, but it is not clear that parameters are measurable for staging the PMD. So the purpose of current study was to introduce an easy and measurable parameter for severity classification of the PMD.Methods: We reviewed the topography of the 36 eyes with different stages of PMD. The diagnosis of PMD was based on the triads signs for diagnosis of PMD that has been introduced by us recently.Results: By measuring the inferior flattened areas we classified the severity of PMD as early,(up to 1mm inferior zone),mild(up to 1.5 mm inferior zone ),moderate (up to 2.5mm IZ),severe (up to 3.5mm IZ )and advanced (more than 3.5mm IZ).Conclusion: IFA measurements are an easy way for classification the severity of PMD
