Background: (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) CAM therapies are defined as a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine. The purpose of this study is overview on Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Iran and world. Materials and Methods: The web of science، google scholar and SID databases were searched. Finally, From 2010 to 2015 were searched. 10 articles were examined forreview in the present study. Results: Nearly 40% of adults in the U.S. use some form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapy. Use of complementary and alternative medical (CAM) therapies was common among Chinese and Vietnamese Americans. People Who lived in the western United States were more likely to have ever used CAM therapies. Age, years in the United States and satisfaction with health care had no association with CAM therapy. in EuropeTreatments are mainly directed to reduce adverse reactions to chemo-radiotherapy, nausea and vomiting and leucopenia . in Europe The complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) more frequently provided to cancer patients were acupuncture. In iran health care staff had low level knowledge on complementary and traditional medicine. The most prevalent reason for not using the conventional treatments was the cost factor 35.6% of mothers had used CAM as medication at least once for their children during the last year. There was a significant and direct correlation between using CAM for children with increased maternal age, decreased level of mother s education, mother being as a housewife and having more than two children. Conclusion: recommended to enhance community knowledge about the proper use of different kinds of CAM in Iran.
