Function of BUB1b Gene in Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy of Invasive Breast Cancer Patients in Iranian Women

Detection of micrometastasis in Sentinel Lymph Node (SLN) is a very useful tool for proper assessment of clinical stage of the disease in breast cancer patients. Early identification of clinically relevant disease could lead to early treatment or staging approaches for breast cancer patient. The significance of micrometastatic in sentinel lymph nodes of women with invasive breast cancer is cleared. In this study we examined of fifty sentinel lymph node biopsy with small number of cancerous cell between breast tumor and axillary lymph nodes by approaching Real Time RT-PCR. All of the samples were tested with Immuno Histochemical (IHC) staining for cytokeratin, that not detected micrometastasis in the selected specimen. In our study the BUB1b expression assay of selected patients with and without metastasis and directly compared together with BUB1b expression showed that overexpression in 2 group patients, but didn’t show overexpression in normal breast and lymph nodes tissue. Our results may be taken into account in the discussion about the merits of routine use of molecular assessment in pathogenesis study of SLNs.
