چکیده مقاله:

breast tumor can be imaged by various modalities. Mammography is the mostwidely used technique because of its excellent diagnostic performance, patientcompliance, and cost-effectiveness ratio. Other radiological techniques such asultrasonography, digital mammography and magnetic resonance imaging usefor breast cancer detection but all of this modality are anatomical basedimaging. in other hand nuclear medicine techniques provide functional on thepathophysiology of both normal tissue and disease. The recent technologicalprogress in nuclear medicine has resulted in the availability of two diagnosticprocedures that have been validated by extensive international clinicalexperience: scintimammography and positron emission tomography (PET) withfluorodeoxyglucose (FDG). The general advantage of nuclear medicine imagingis that tumor-seeking radiopharmaceuticals accumulate in cancer lesions, whichmakes scintimammography and PET fundamentally different from theradiological techniques that image the tumor mainly on the basis ofmorphological alterations.because nuclear medicine has important role in breast cancer staging anddetection, so the aim of this study is review on some new radiopharmaceuticaland new development in physical aspect of SPECT and PET for breast cancerimaging.
