The effect of Trade liberalization on economic growth in Iran (1981-2015)

Economic growth is considered as a major component of economic development and as a result of the globalization of the economy, the issue has become an issue of interest to economists of different countries in the world. In this study, the relationship between trade liberalization and economic growth has been examined. In order to achieve these objectives, during the years 1981 to 2014, Auto Regression Distributed Lag (ARDL) model was used. In addition, to investigate the causality between trade liberalization and economic growth in long and short-term, error correction model was used to test causality. The results showed the variables of total investment, the number of labor, and trade liberalization index have positive significant effect on the rate of economic growth in the short term and long term. In addition, using the Wald test on error correction model coefficients, it was found out that there is causality between trade liberalization and the rate of economic growth in the short term
