چکیده مقاله:
Breast cancer (BC) is a molecular heterogeneous disease which demands a search for markers to provide a more specific classification. Long noncoding RNAs as the significant subset of noncodingtranscripts have been shown to be involved in tumorigenic processes. Then, they can be helpful markers for early detection of cancer as well as evaluation of cancer prognosis. Furthermore, they canbe applied as therapeutic targets. In this study, the expression of four long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) namely SOX2OT, ANRASSF1, PTPRG-AS1 and ANRIL was assessed in 38 BC tissues and theiradjacent noncancerous tissues (ANCTs). ANRASSF1 expression was not detected in any noncancerous tissue. All lncRNAs revealed significant overexpression in tumor tissues compared with ANCTs. There is no association between gene expressions and individual clinical data such as tumor stage, size, grade and hormone receptor status except for ANRASSF1 expression and Her2/neu status. Moreover, ANRASSF1 and ANRIL expressions were significantly higher in triple negative samples. This study suggests a putative role for these lncRNAs in BC and implies that they may be considered as potential cancer biomarkers.
