چکیده مقاله:

Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies among women. The number of deaths is approximately 21.2 per 100,000 women per year worldwide. Although there are advanced therapeuticmethods against breast cancer, metastasis of epithelial breast cancer cells complicates the efficiency of treatment causing low survival rate of patients. E-cadherin expression which has a key role in cell-cell adhesion decreases during EMT and the cells lose their junctions and can migrate to other sites. However, the role of MAML1, transcriptional co-activator of Notch signaling pathway, in EMT ofbreast cancer is not clear. In this study, the effect of MAML1 upregulation on the E-cadherin expression in MCF7 breast cancer cell line was investigated. MCF7 cells were transfected to ectopically express MAML1, followed by qRT-PCR, and Western blot analysis. Results: ectopically expressed cells showed higher E-cadherin expression compared to control cells. since changes in e-cadherin expression is a hallmark of EMT, our finding indicates that MAML1 may negatively regulate epithelial- mesenchymal transition of breast cancer cells
