Concurrent Engineering Implementation Assessment: A Survey in Iranian Construction Industry

After impressive achievements of Concurrent Engineering (CE) in manufacturing and software engineering;in recent years, there has been a global interest in adaptation of CE in construction industry. Hence, experts inconstruction industry were encouraged the use of CE methodology in this industry, regarding the constructionindustry as a manufacturing system. In this article a survey is performed on efforts in assessment methods andalso, an assessment is conducted on maturity and readiness of Iranian construction industry services forimplementation of CE methods. The assessment method has been inspired by a questionnaire-based modelnamed BEACON, followed by drafting a new questionnaire is drafted based on the critical elements of thismodel. The Iranian construction industry experts are asked to fill in the questionnaire to get experimentalresults. Finally the results are provided, examined and conclusions are discussed.
