The role of Neuro-linguistic programming Meta- Models in Counseling and Psychotherapy

The current study aims to introduce and investigate Meta-Models in Counseling , Psychology and Psychotherapy. Firstly, this paper discusses the importance of verbal communication between patient and therapist and the importance of the patient s mental world and how the patient processes data and presents processed data to the therapist. then, using the term Meta-Model , the main approach of neuro-linguistic programming to the mind of the patient is explained. Later on, we present a history of Meta-Model and its definition. The present research study, moreover, includes different types of meta-models and the questions therapist needs to ask to know more about these Meta-Models in his/her patients. The contents of this study was collected from books, articles and reliable websites about Neuro-linguistic programming and Counseling. Finally, This study concluded, according other therapeutic approaches and Neuro-linguistic programming approach, Meta-Models can have an important position in counseling and psychotherapy.
