چکیده مقاله:
As we know, john Steinbeck himself dramatized Of Mice and Men for stage,to express what he had in his heart, in the form of dialogues among people, concisely and briefly. Therefore, for this purpose he found the dramatic structure as the best form. On the other hand, the readers of a novel, obviously, could be more than the attendants of a play. Considering thisreason, he chose the playnovelette form to communicate his massage to more audiences.Of Mice and Men is a real experience of play writing, combining elements of both drama andnovel. However, so dominated are dramatic aspect of the work which I would rather call it aplay and change the typical classification of it as a novelette. This essay aims at exploring indetails why Of Mice and Men breaks the conventional boundaries of fiction and joins drama. This is to be achieved through aparticular analysis of certain features of drama, prevalent inthe story’s structure.Overall, Steinbeck s novel is tightly structured and intentionally written in an arrangement that uses theatre conventions to produce unity and convey a message.
