Background: Social support is one of the important effective factors on health-related behaviors in different groups. There is no document about the efficacy of educational intervention on perceived social support among adolescents. Objectives: To evaluation the effect of an educational interventional program on the level of perceived and received social support by teenagers for having a healthy diet. Methods: This field trial was conducted in two groups on the parents of 63 early adolescent girls in Isfahan, Iran. Samples were randomly allocated into two groups of intervention and control. Teenagers’ perceived and received social support from their parents was measured using a questionnaire. One month after performing the educational intervention for parents, teenagers’ received and perceived social support for having a healthy diet were measured again. The level of significance was set at 0.05 for all the statistical tests. Results: Results showed no significant difference between both groups after the intervention regarding the mean level of their perceived and received nutritional social support. Conclusions: Educational intervention for parents could not improve received and perceived social support for having a healthy diet in early adolescents.
