چکیده مقاله:

Due to the fact that one of the main factors considering the prime cost of a structure is its consumed materials, so engineers always prefer to minimize a structure weight as to reduce materials consumption. It can be easily done by using methods for optimum design of constructions. Over the past years, various methods have been introduced to optimize structures. In this study, optimization of structures shape is studied considering linear behavior under static load. Design variables include sections of componentsand the coordinates of structurenodes. The total weight of the structure is selected as the objective function. Design constraints include restrictions on the movements ofstructure nodes and some architecturaland geometric constraints. A new optimization method, modified differential evolution algorithm (Modified differential evolution), is applied for optimization.
