چکیده مقاله:

Recently the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater has attracted much attention due to their toxic and non-biodegradable nature which has posed a serious threat to ecological system and public health. Adsorption technology, relying heavily on the advanced adsorbent materials, is one of the most effective and simplest approaches to remove heavy metal ions due to its high efficiency and low cost. Magnetic nanoparticles have attracted intensive attentions because of their excellent physical and chemical properties, such as superparamagnetism, high surface area, strong adsorption ability and easy separation under external magnetic fields. However, magnetic nanoparticles are prone to aggregates due to strong magnetic dipole–dipole attractions between particles and the high surface energy, which will limit their applications. Thus, it is necessary to modify these particles by functionalization and modification of the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. NS ligands functionalized Fe3O4 magnetic nano particles were synthesized via co-precipitation method combined with surface modification by reflux process. The products were characterized by FTIR, FESEM. After characterization, the products were used for the removal of heavy metal ions such as Cd(II) and Pb(II). The influence of pH values, contact time and initial metal concentration on the adsorption efficiency were investigated. The results revealed that the adsorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) were pH dependent process, and the pH 6.0 was found to be optimum condition. Atomic absorption shows the maximum adsorption potential of these ligands for Pb(II) removal are 81%. All the above results provided a method for continuously preparing recyclable adsorbent applied in removing toxic metal ions from waste water.
