An investigation study on Content Based Image Retrieval

Content based image retrieval for general-purpose databases is a main problem because of the large size of the database and also the difficulty ofunderstanding images, both by people and computers. Content based image retrieval is an important interest area nowadays in many applications.In this research we reviewcontent-based image retrieval system that uses color and textureas visual features to describe the content of an image region. Wedescribe Gabor filters to extract texture features from arbitrary shapedregions separated from an image after segmentation to increase the system effectiveness. In addition we have a brief review on a system that has the advantage of increasing the retrieval accuracy anddecreasing the retrieval time.
