چکیده مقاله:

Objective: Several aquatic pathogens that can cause heavy loss in farmed freshwater and marine finfish may be pathogenic for humans. Aeromonas hydrophila and Streptococcus iniae are examples of these pathogens that are often isolated from diseased or apparently healthy fish sent to market. Method & Materials: In this survey 165 freshly marketed rainbow trout from Shiraz fish market were collected in summer 2008. Fish were aseptically dissected and cultured on brain hearth infusion agar. In the case of any growth of bacteria, the isolate was identified by biochemical and molecular tests. Results & Conclusion: A. hydrophila was isolated from fish in 15 cases. This bacteria can cause enteritis in temperate regions where people use more fish. To date, no Streptococcus spp. was isolated from fish in this study. There are substantial evidences that pathogenic aquatic organisms are able to be transferred to and infect human. Thus, screening marketed fish for pathogenic bacteria is essential for food safety majors.
