Determination of IgM value in Barbus sharpeyi brood stocks in spawning season

Objective: The current study carried out to determine Immunoglobulin M value in Benni (Barbus sharpeyi) brood stocks. Method and Materials: Blood samples were obtained from 42 randomly selected fishes including 24 females and 18 males during artificial fertilization operation, serums were collected from blood and samples were analyzed in the lab. Results and Conclusion: The results showed that mean value of IgM was 62.8 mg/lit. IgM value in females and males were 78.4 and 42 mg/dl, respectively, which showed a statistical difference between male and female fishes (p=0.006). There was also a statistical difference in fishes with different weight and standard length, difference in serum IgM of 3 total length groups of fishes were also statistical (p=0.001) but no statistical difference were observed in fishes with different ages.
