Effects of different dietary levels of aflatoxin B1 on survival rate and growth in Huso huso

Objective: To study the growth responses and survival rate of Huso huso to various concentration of dietary AFB1 under controlled condition Method & Materials: In total 180 fish weighted 120 ± 10gr. were fed with commercial diets containing 0, 25, 50 and 100 ppb AFB1/Kg of diets for 127 days. The experiments were conducted in 15 tanks under controlled conditions. Results & Conclusion: Results showed that the different levels of dietary AFB1 did not have any significant effects on the final average length and SGR (p<0.05). However, weight gain and FCR showed significant difference between control group and treatments 1 and 2 (75 and 100 ppb AFB1, respectively), after 14 weeks of experiments (p<0.05). the increase of the level of AFB1 did not change the percent of survival rate and no mortality was observed (SR=100%). Depends on the concentration and time of exposure to AFB1, different levels of pathological changes in liver sections were observed.
