Drought defined as a harmful climatic anomaly that its causes observed as a society anomalies like; migration and poverty. In this paper, the method of deciles (DPI), Normal Precipitation index (PNPI), Rainfall Anomaly Index (RAI), and Z-Score indices were assessing, to identify the most efficient index of drought monitoring. To this aimed, annually data of rainfall during 30 years was obtained from a series of 9 meteorological stations in Ghare Aghaj watershed. Result show the maximum drought severity observed in 1966. According to the Correlations matrix between the value of drought severity and minimum amount of precipitation as well as average and standard deviation, DPI is taken into account as the most efficient index in the watershed. Map of Spatial distribution of drought severity obtained based on the DPI by means of IDW method in the watershed. It can be observed that north and central parts of the watershed lie in the severe class of DPI and the rest of area is generally characterized by very severe drought.
