چکیده مقاله:

Solvent Technology, is gaining the interest of researchers in improving transesterification process recently. A homogeneous reaction process using DEE as a co-solvent for the transesterification of linseed oil with methanol in the presence of potassium hydroxide catalyst has been developed. The effects of the main parameters, such as reaction temperature, the molar ratio of methanol to oil, catalyst concentration, the molar ratio of DEE to methanol, reaction time and agitation rate, on fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) yield were investigated. Temperature, reaction time and agitation rate were fixed by preliminary tests for the other parameters, set of experiments were designed by CCD method with duplicating of each test due to improving confidence limit. Finally, optimal conditions were: 0.83 wt% KOH, 10.38:1 as methanol/oil molar ratio, 1.7:1 as co-solvent/methanol molar ratio, 650 rpm and 30 C with one-hour reaction time.
