Inter-Parental Conflict and Antisocial Behavior among Middle Adolescents; Mediating Effect of Mother-Adolescent Conflict

This study examines the mediating effect of mother-adolescent conflict on the relationships between inter-parental conflict and anti-social behaviour among middle adolescents. Data were collected by means of adolescents’ self-report using standardized instruments (i.e., Issues Checklist Questionnaire and Delinquent Behaviour Scale). Results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between inter-parental conflict and anti-social behaviour in adolescents (r=.213, p≤0.01). Data for this study consisted of 385 middle adolescents in the Iran. The results of a three steps multiple regression analysis and Soble-test (Z =1.97, P <.05) indicated that the positive effects of perceived inter-parental conflict on anti-social behaviour among adolescents is significantly mediated by mother-adolescent conflict.
