An overview on principles of foundation fieldbus control systems

Foundation fieldbus is an all-digital, serial, two-way communication system that interconnects field instruments (such as transmitters and control valves) with 31.25 Kbps and connects human machine interfaces (HMI), linkingdevices and gateways using standard Ethernet cabling at 100Mbps. This paper outlines briefly the specifications of foundation fieldbus, how itimproves a traditional control and data acquisition systems, its advantages over traditional industrial control system and its implementation.
