چکیده مقاله:
There is an assumption points that the greenest building is one that is already built . This phrase mentions and tries to reveal the intersection between preservation and green building. Greening historic and existing buildings is gaining recognition in buildings lifecycle. The merging of two disciplines: historic preservation and green building requires an attention to how to respect and renew what is already exist and how to transform legacy of the past in to the promise of tomorrow.The massive investment of materials and energy in existing buildings can led to the extending of useful service life of the building. Among these, improving energy performance of existing building need to be taken in to account and attention in preservation. So achieving sustainable energy targets that have been adopted to historic buildings, is a new challenge that can be reached by various developed technologies and different design solutions. This paper seeks to mention the principles of sustainability and its relations to historic buildings and also outline the methods and practices that improve energy performance of historic properties to make them more efficient.
