Novel different morphologies of flower like ZnO/SnO nanostructures photocatalysts were successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method in the presence of a functional ionic liquid (FIL). It was found that the reaction time and the amount of CILs influence the growth mechanism and optical properties of ZnO/SnO, nanostructures. The prepared ZnO/SnO, nanostructure photocatalyst was systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and photoluminescence spectrum (PL). The photodegradation of photocatalysts were evaluated using MO as organic contaminant irradiated with visible light from tungsten bulb and Uv irritation. The dye photodecolorization process was studied considering the influence of experimental parameters such as catalyst concentration, ZnO/SnO, ratio, pH, and temperature. The material with the best catalytic activity towards the MO photodecolorization was the ZnO doped with 15% of SnO. SEM images of products obtained with molar ratio Zn/Sn = 1/1, CIL = 0.05 g at different reaction times.
