Investigation on effect of natural fractures on experienced breakdown pressures in comparison with expected pressures based on geomechanical study in one of Iranian south oilfields

this study was proposed to investigate variations in behavior of hydraulic fracturing in four wells of one of Iranian oilfield. Geomechanic study and assessed uncertainties along with the fracturing results at four candidate wells and natural fractures data altogether were analyzed. It was concluded that natural fractures probably impose considerable local variations in stress state, and in many of cases, provide good opportunity to conduct successful fracturing operation.
