M3GMSR in highly heterogeneous petroleum reservoir and evaluate the influence of surrounded rock on production rate

The increase in global oil demands on one side and consecutive depletion of petroleum reservoirs on the other, make a great challenge for oil exploration and production industry. Thus, determining the optimum type and location of new wells is an essential component in the efficient development of oil and gas fields. Since, the simulation of oil reservoir is an important and time consuming step of optimal well placement, the efficiency of this matter affects the whole production strategy. In this regard, various methods were developed for the efficient modeling of the fluid transport in petroleum reservoir. Nevertheless, only of them namely Multiscale Multiphysic gemechanical Model (M3GM) developed by the author represent the Multiscale feature of the reservoir accompanied by geomachanical effects in separated scales and different frameworks. The M3GM consider any physical phenomenon on their domain of influence so that the high computational efficiency were achieved. M3GM was based on elastic porous media without considering surrounded rock. However, the production rate not only depends on constitutive model of reservoir porous media but also affected by sounded rock. In this paper the extension of M3GM with considering the surrounded rock through virtual spring and also Hyper-Visco elastic nature of reservoir domain is presented. Moreover, the influence of these items on the production rate were evaluated.
