Congestion Management using Demand Response Programs and FACTS Devices Considering Power System Uncertainties

In order to ensure a competitive market and secure power system it is essential to relieve congestion. Also it is important to manage congestion with cost benefit methods. In this paper Demand Response Programs and Flexible Alternating Current System (FACTS) devices are implemented to relieve congestion because of their effects on demand reduction and power system loadability. Power system uncertainties are also considered in this proposed congestion management (CM) method. To obtain good performance of FACTS devices, these devices are optimally located in transmission line and their sizes are determined considering stochastic behavior of power system. The proposed method is tested on New-England 39- bus test system
